First Year Experience

Christopher is a senior from Milford, MI. He is dual majoring in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration and Psychology with a concentration in Human Sexuality while minoring in Legal Studies. In the future, Christopher will be attending law school. He is a returning mentor and joined because he feels that being an FYE mentor is one of the most prestigious leadership positions on campus. It gives him the opportunity to show the first-year students what Central has to offer. Chris enjoys the chance to promote Central and give first-year students the tools they need to ensure their success in the first year of college. Christopher is involved in Phi Alpha Delta, Student Government Association, Recreation Club, and intramural sports.

Laura is a senior and returning mentor from Midland, MI. She is majoring in Secondary Education English with a minor in History. In the future, she plans to teach high school English and love it :). She currently works as a Day Camp Counselor during the summer. Laura joined the FYE program because she loves being a student at CMU and wants to make other students' freshman year a great experience. She is also involved in Kappa Delta Pi, Student Michigan Education Association, and is a Campus Ambassador.

Abby is a senior and new mentor from Davisburg, MI. She is a Biomedical Science major with Chemistry and Leadership minors. Abby is a Barnes Hall RA and desk worker. She wants to be a mentor this year because she wants to help new students get to know CMU and make them feel like CMU can be their new home. Abby is involved in Pre-Med Club, Barnes Hall Council, Habitat for Humanity, University Academic Senate Committee, Homecoming Parade Committee, Sibs Weekend and is a Leadership Advancement Scholar.

Zach is a sophomore and new mentor from Sternsville, MI. He has a double major of Biomedical and Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. In the future, he hopes to become a Doctor of Osteopathy. Zach became a mentor this year with a hope of showing students that college is something to be embraced and taken advantage of, not feared. Zach is involved in Pre-Med Club, Osteopathy Club, Beta Beta Beta, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and is on the Dean's List.

Courtney is a senior and returning mentor. She is majoring in Elementary Education with concentrations in Math, Reading, and Child Development. She is originally from Goodrich, MI. Courtney joined the FYE program because she loves working with students and helping them have a positive introduction to and experience at college. She is also involved in Kappa Delta Pi and His House Christian Fellowship, is a Leadership Safari Guide and an Alternative Breaks Site Leader.

Casey is a sophomore and new mentor to the FYE program. She is from Dansville, MI. Casey is majoring in Integrative Public Relations with minors in Leadership, Public Affairs, and Advertising. Her ultimate goal is to obtain a public relations position in the government. Casey is currently employed at Abercrombie and Fitch. She applied to be a mentor because she has always strived to make an impact and feels that FYE will allow her to do that in a fun, creative and different way. Casey is also involved in Trout Hall Council and E-Board, Public Relations Student Society of America, and the Honors Program.

Chris is a junior and new mentor from Lansing, MI. He is majoring in Social Studies with a minor in History and plans to be a teacher in the future. Chris is currently employed at the SAC in customer service. He joined the FYE program because he wanted to obtain teaching experience and help first-year students along the way. Chris is also involved in Justice Reepers.

Alicia is a senior and new mentor from Montrose, MI. She has a major in Social Studies for Elementary Education and a minor in Language Arts. In the future, Alicia would like to teach elementary school. She became an FYE mentor to give first-year students a positive and encouraging experience at CMU. She wants to share what she has learned with other people and learn from them at the same time. Alicia is also involved in His House Christian Fellowship and the Education & Human Services Residential College.

Sarah is a returning mentor and senior from Holly, MI. She has a major in Integrative Public Relations and minors in Interpersonal and Public Communication and Business Administration. She currently works as the CMU Public Broadcasting receptionist and as an intern for the March of Dimes but has plans to work for a public relations agency. Sarah chose to be an FYE mentor because she knows how important it is that students get acclimated to college. It goes by fast and and she wants them to be able to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible. In addition to FYE, Sarah is involved with PR Central, Public Relations Student Society of America, and serves as the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society Vice-President.

Elaine is a junior and new mentor from Clinton Township, MI. Her major is Special Education with an emphasis on the emotionally impaired. In the future, Elaine would like to become a teacher and academic advisor. She joined FYE because she wants to help new students transition into college and get her foot in the door with teaching.

Chad is a junior and returning mentor from Armada, MI majoring in Therapeutic Recreation with a minor in Psychology. Chad plans to become an Occupational Therapist after attending graduate school. He is currently employed at the Down Under Food Court. Chad became an FYE mentor because he enjoys helping other people and learning a lot from his students. He is also involved in Campus Crusade for Christ, Honors Program, David Garcia Project, Pre-Occupational Therapy Club, and is a Leadership Safari Guide.

Brittany is a sophomore and new mentor from Vicksburg, MI. With a major in Commercial Recreation and minors in Hospitality and Event Management, Brittany hopes to become a Director of Entertainment in Los Angeles or Las Vegas. Brittany is currently employed as a waitress. She joined the FYE program because she thought FYE was helpful for her and wanted to help other first-year students along the way. Brittany is also involved in the Volleyball Club Team and Phi Eta Sigma.

Brittany is a sophomore and new mentor this year from Montrose, MI. Brittany has a major in English and a minor in History and hopes to teach secondary education in the future. She is currently employed as a babysitter. Brittany applied to be a mentor because she thought it was a great opportunity and will hopefully give her some good teaching experience. Brittany had a great peer mentor last year that inspired her to help guide other first-year students. Brittany is also involved in Phi Mu and Sibs Weekend Committee.

Robert is a sophomore and new mentor for the FYE program from Farmington Hills, MI. He is majoring in Social Studies Elementary Education with a minor in Middle Level Language Arts. His future plan is to be a middle school teacher. Robert loved being in FYE 101 last year and he joined as a mentor because he wanted to give back to CMU. He is involved in the Education & Human Services Residential College, National Residence Hall Honorary, and Leadership Safari.

Sanja is a senior and new mentor from Warren, MI. She has a major in Psychology and minors in Family Life & Human Sexuality and Business Administration. In the future, she hopes to be a high school counselor. Sanja would like to pass on the knowledge she has to first-year students and have the opportunity to learn new things herself. She is also involved in intramural sports and volunteering.

Linday is a senior pursuing a degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Development. The West Bloomfield, MI native is planning to go to graduate school for counseling studies and then hopes to work in the forensic counseling field. She is looking forward to her first year as a mentor because she enjoys forming close interpersonal relationships with others to assist them with issues or concerns of any kind. Lindsay is also involved in Psi Chi.

Katelyn is a junior and new mentor from Manchester, MI. She is majoring in Health Administration with minors in Business Administration and Leadership. While she is currently employed at Bennigan’s, she looks forward to finishing her undergraduate degree and continuing her education at the University of North Carolina. Katelyn chose to become an FYE mentor because she had such a great experience in her FYE 101 class. She feels she was able to learn more about Central by taking the class than she would have without and wants to share that experience with others.

Becky is a junior from Livonia, MI who is returning as a mentor. She is majoring in Commercial and Community Recreation and minoring in Hospitality and Event Management and Leadership. Currently, she works as an Office Assistant in the Leadership Institute. Becky became a mentor because she enjoys helping other people become at home with CMU. She is also involved in Homecoming 2008, Leadership Camp, and Circle K.

Katie is a junior and new mentor from Rockford, MI. She is a Music Education major and hopes to become a band director in the future. Katie also works as a waitress, and in the summer she is a staff member for various band camps. Katie joined FYE because she thought it would be a great experience. She is involved in the CMU Marching Band and Delta Omicron.

Miranda is a sophomore and new mentor from Clinton, MI. She is a Graphic Design major with a minor in Advertising. Miranda would like to become a graphic art designer in the future. She joined the FYE mentoring program because her mentor made a big difference in her first semester at CMU, and she would like the same opportunity. Miranda is also involved in Phi Mu.

Marie is a senior and returning mentor from Williamston, MI. She is majoring in Education and minoring in history with plans to become a teacher. Marie currently works as a librarian and chose to become an FYE mentor because she wants to help first-year students adapt to college life. In addition to FYE, Marie is also involved with Sexual Aggression Peer Advocates.

Allison is a sophomore and new mentor from Grandville, MI. Her major is Family Studies and her minors are Leadership and Youth Studies. In the future, Allison would like to work as a family therapist. Allison became an FYE mentor because she had a great experience in FYE 101. Her mentor made a great impact on her, and she would like to pass that on. She is also a CMU cheerleader.

Jamie is a senior and returning mentor from Bad Axe, MI pursuing a degree in Family Studies with a minor in Sociology. She is also the Peer Mentor Coordinator for the FYE program. She joined the FYE program because she wants to give first-year students the chance to get connected to campus and have an amazing first year. She plans to be an academic advisor and work in higher education.

Courtney is a new mentor and senior from New Orleans, LA. She is majoring in Psychology and minoring in American Ethnic Studies and Youth Studies. She would ultimately like to work in K-12 Education Policy. Courtney works as a Student Assistant in the Office of International Education and is also a cashier. Courtney had a great experience when she took FYE 101 and wanted to have the same impact on someone else. Courtney is involved in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, NAACP, Student Government Association, Collective Action for Cultural Unity, and is a Ronald E. McNair Scholar.

Megan is a junior and new mentor from Allen Park, MI. She is majoring in Integrated Science with a minor in Reading. After graduation, she plans to find a teaching job. Megan decided to become an FYE mentor because she enjoyed her FYE 101 class and wants to give the same experience to incoming students. She is involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters, National Science Teachers Association, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and is a Leadership Safari Guide.

Richard is a senior and returning mentor from Farmington, MI. He is pursuing a dual major in Special Education and Child Development. Richard currently works as a Student Manager in the Down Under Food Court, but in the future plans to be a special education teacher and open up a montessori school. Richard is one of two Education & Human Services Residential College mentors and became a mentor because he wanted to give other first-year students the same experience as he had as a first year student. He credits FYE with getting him involved on campus and hopes to show that to others. He is involved in Sexual Aggression Peer Advocates as well as other student organizations on campus.

Kristen is a junior and new mentor from Redford, MI. She is dual majoring in Accounting and Finance with minors in Legal Studies and Spanish. Kristen was an RA during the 07-08 school year and became involved in the mentoring program because she enjoys being a "go-to" person. She wants to continue her involvement in "showing the ropes" to new CMU students even though she won't be an RA this year. Kristen is also involved in the Student Accounting Society.

Kaitlin is a senior and new mentor from Greenville, MI. She is pursuing a degree in K-12 Physical Education and School Health Education with minors in Leadership Studies and High School Athletic Coaching. With this degree, Kaitlin is hoping to get her Masters in Athletic Administration at CMU and be an Athletic Director for a high school or small college. For now, she is an RA in Troutman and works at Director's Cut. She joined the FYE mentor team because she loves CMU and wants to help incoming students transition into college life at CMU. Kaitlin is involved in Alpha Gamma Delta, Leadership Institute, Phi Epsilon Kappa, Rho Lambda, Order of Omega, Leadership Safari, and Student Michigan Education Association.

Katie is a senior and new mentor from Clarkston, MI. She is working towards a degree in Communication Disorders with minors in Gerontology and Human Development. In the future, Katie would like to work as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Currently, she works as a Student Assistant in the Office of Student Life. She decided to be an FYE mentor because she feels FYE is a great way to give back to CMU and wants to influence first-year students by sharing her experiences. Katie is involved in the Association of Speech-Language Pathologists, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Gerontology Club, Speech Language Hearing Club, and the Health Professions Residential College.

Lisa is a sophomore and new mentor from Walled Lake, MI. She is pursuing a degree in Elementary Special Education with a minor in Reading for Elementary grades. In the future, she hopes to be an elementary special education teacher. She currently works as a personal assistant, secretary, and nanny. Lisa is an FYE mentor this year because she wants the opportunity to get to know the incoming Education & Human Services Residential College (EHSRC) members and have an opportunity to impact other people's lives. She is involved in intramural sports, Calkins Hall Council, and is the EHSRC President.

John is a senior and new mentor from Dowagiac, MI. John is pursuing a degree in Spanish and Secondary Math Education. In the future, he would like to work as a high school teacher and eventually move on to a job in higher education. Currently, John works as a Student Assistant in the President’s Office. John became a mentor because he wanted to help new students transition from high school to college and be aware of all of the resources available to them. He is involved in Beta Theta Pi, Residence Hall Assembly, and is an RA in Thorpe Hall.

Katie is currently a junior and new mentor to the FYE program. She is pursuing a major in Communication Disorders and minors in American Sign Language and Family Life & Human Sexuality. In the future, she plans to go to graduate school and become a Speech Pathologist. At home in Rochester Hills, MI, Katie works at Bed Bath & Beyond. She became a mentor because she wanted to act as a resource and guide for incoming first-year students and thought it would be a lot of fun. She is involved in Sexual Aggression Peer Advocates, Speech/Language/Hearing Club and is a Multicultural Advancement Scholar.

Anthony is a senior from Troy, MI and new mentor. Majoring in History and minoring in Geography, he plans to become a high school teacher. He applied to the FYE program because he would like to experience a classroom setting from a teacher's prospective and enjoys meeting people and taking on new tasks. Anthony is involved in Club Soccer and plays intramural sports.

Hang is a junior and returning mentor originally from Vietnam, who relocated to Port Austin, MI. She is a Finance major with hopes of working at a commercial bank and continuing on to graduate school. She currently works in a residential restaurant on campus. Hang joined the FYE program because she wants to make a difference, connect with first-year students, and be a resource for her peers. She is involved in Residence Hall Assembly, National Residence Hall Honorary, Volunteer Center, Asian Cultural Organization, International Club, and Phi Chi Theta.

Carly is a junior and returning mentor from Belding, MI. She is a Public Relations major and Journalism minor. She works as a CM Life Advertising Account Executive but plans to be a public relations professional in the future. She became involved in the FYE program because she wanted to be a part of new students' transition into college. She had a great experience in FYE as a freshman and wants to give back to the program that helped her. Carly is also involved in the CMU Honors Program and the Public Relations Student Society of America.

Kaitlyn is a new mentor and sophomore from Rockville, MD. She is majoring in Apparel Merchandising and Design. She would like to work in historical movie and theatre She currently works at Hollister and Co. Kaitlyn joined FYE to give back to the program what it gave to her as a student. She is involved in the Women's Lacrosse Club and CMU President-in-Training.

Tara is a returning mentor from Lowell, MI with majors in Psychology and Family Studies. In addition to teaching FYE, she is very active, loves sports and has volunteered for Special Olympics. Tara recently joined Big Brothers Big Sisters. She can't wait to get to know all of her students and hopes to be a great resource for them during their transition at CMU.

As a new mentor, Heather, a senior from Waterford, MI is excited to give first-year students the guidance and encouragement that she got from her experience with FYE. She is pursuing a major in Public Relations and a minor in Public Affairs. Heather currently works as a receptionist on campus but would like to work in public relations. She is also involved in Public Relations Student Society of America and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Janet is a senior majoring in Health Fitness in Preventative and Rehabilitative Science and minoring in Pre-Physical Therapy. Originally from Sparta, MI, Janet is a Banquet Server at the Comfort Inn but plans to become a physical therapist. As a returning mentor, she wants to be a resource for new students on campus. Janet is involved in Student Government Association, Pre-Physical Therapy Club, and Eta Alpha Epsilon.

Evan is a returning mentor and senior from Hillsdale. He is majoring in Music Education with a minor in Instrumental Music. Evan currently works as a Sandwich Artist but has plans to become teach music. He chose to become an FYE mentor because he feels he can office first-year students a lot of good advice on how to be successful at CMU. In addition to his work with FYE, Evan is involved with the CMU Brass Band, Wind Ensemble, and the Percussion Ensemble.

Kimberly is a 5^th-year senior from Algonac, MI and is new to the First Year Experience program. She currently works as a Resident Assistant and Secretary in Military Science. With her majors of Mathematics and Integrated Science, she plans to teach and coach at a high school. Her reason for becoming a peer mentor is to help prepare her for her future job as a teacher. Kimberly is involved in Student Michigan Education Association, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, NSTM, Kappa Mu Epsilon, Hall Council, and plays in intramural sports.

Becky is a senior and returning mentor from Monroe, MI. She currently works at the Down Under Food Court but plans to become a high school principal. To help her get to that goal, she is majoring in Social Studies and History. She became an FYE mentor because she wants first-year students to fall in love with Central like she has. Becky is also involved as a Student Government Association Membership Officer, Alternative Breaks Site Leader, Orientation and Training Co-Chair, Leadership Safari Guide, and is involved in the Organization of Women Leaders, Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Committee, K-12 Leadership Development Programs and His House Christian Fellowship.

Tim is a senior and returning mentor pursuing a major in Outdoor Recreation and a minor in Natural Resources. He is currently working as a Leadership Camp Coordinator but plans to work in Outdoor Leadership and then become a teacher. He is from Kentwood, MI and became an FYE Mentor because he enjoys helping first-year students get connected with CMU so they are more likely to succeed. He is involved in Phi Kappa Tau, Leadership Camp, and Alternative Breaks.

Erin is a senior from Sterling Heights, MI. She is a returning mentor that loves working with students of all ages to enhance their academic knowledge and personal growth, but she especially likes making first-year college students feel welcome at CMU and helping show all the awesome opportunities available. She is a dual major in English and History. Currently, she works as a Student Assistant in the Honors Program office and Supplemental Instruction Leader for HST 101. In the future, she would like to work in either Secondary/Higher Education, Public Administration, or Legal Affairs (or wherever life takes her). Erin is currently involved in the Honors Program, intramural basketball, Student Diversity Advisory Council, Student Code Hearing Board, and Phi Alpha Theta.

AJ Reynolds is a senior and returning mentor from Stockbridge, MI majoring in Elementary Education with Concentrations in Language Arts and Mathematics. AJ is also an America Reads Tutor and is involved in the Student Michigan Education Association. AJ became a mentor in the FYE program because she enjoys helping students adjust to college life and find their place at CMU.

Kimberly is a new mentor and senior from Deckerville, MI. She joined the mentoring program because of the joy it brings her to help younger students explore their new home at CMU. She is a Spanish major and Sociology, Communications, and Leadership triple minor. In the future, she would like to work for the government or a non-profit organization. Kimberly is involved in the Safer Sex Patrol, Alpha Leadership Experience, The Voting Brigade, and is a Campus Ambassador.

Mary is majoring in Integrated Science and minoring in Geography with future plans to become an elementary school science teacher. She is originally from Macomb, MI and is a junior this year. She applied to be in the mentoring program to give incoming students a chance to get to know campus and have an amazing first year at CMU. She is involved in Leadership Safari and the Education and Human Services Residential College Executive Board.

Brettny is a sophomore from Dallas, TX and a new mentor this year. She is pursuing a major in Family Studies as well as minors in Youth Studies and History. She currently works as a residence hall "Deskie" but would like to pursue a career in either Children's Ministries or Student Life. Brettny became a mentor to "pay it forward" because she had such a great experience in FYE and wants others to have the same experience. She is involved in Campus Crusade for Christ, Leadership Safari, Sibs Committee, and is a Homecoming volunteer.

Erica is a returning mentor from Chesterfield, MI. She is a senior with a Mathematics major and Language Arts minor. She plans to get her degree in Elementary Education and teach grades 3-5 but currently works at Bath and Body Works. She loved her FYE class and loved the experience as a first-year student and decided to do what her mentor did for her by helping to give them a great first-year experience. Erica is involved in CMU 2010 and Kappa Mu Epsilon.

Joe is a senior and returning mentor from Stockbridge, MI. He is majoring in Math and Integrated Science with a minor in Middle Level Education. In the future, he would like to teach middle school math and science. Joe currently works residence hall desk for Fabiano, Emmons and Celani and is an RA in Emmons Hall. Joe joined the FYE mentoring program because he wanted to help students transition into college life and thinks that FYE is a great program. Joe is also involved in Collegiate Middle Level Association at Central Michigan University.

Ben is a junior and returning mentor from Greenville, MI pursuing a degree in Information Technology with a minor in Business Administration. He works in the Pearce Computer Center and is currently completing his internship by creating new websites for FYE and the Education & Human Services Residential College. He applied to be a mentor because he really enjoyed the class and wants to help first-year students have a great experience at Central. Ben is also involved in Alpha Phi Omega as the Public Relations Chair and Sibs Weekend.

Brittiany is a junior and returning mentor from Monroe, MI. She is pursuing a major in Human Resource Management, and minors in Event Planning and Leadership and is planning her internship at SeaWorld. In the future, she would like to be an event planner and/or human resources specialist. Brittiany became an FYE mentor because she enjoys being involved and helping others out as much as she can. She knows how important the first year is and loves being able to help make the beginning of the year a great one! Brittiany is also involved in the Society for Human Resource Management.

Laura is a senior and returning mentor from Holly, MI. She is pursuing a major in Special Education with a concentration in Elementary Students with Emotional Impairments and a minor in Child Development. She plans to teach in an inclusive classroom near her hometown and eventually become an assistant principal wherever the road may take her. She currently works as an Assistant Manager at Family Dollar. Laura joined the FYE mentoring team because she really wants to make first-year students have a very memorable and enjoyable year. She knows the transition is not an easy one, but she is more than willing to help out in any way she can. Laura is also involved in the Student Council for Exceptional Children.

Jessica, a sophomore and new mentor from Troy, MI is pursuing a major in Business. She currently works as a waitress but would like to work abroad in the future. She became an FYE Mentor because she wants to help first-year students start their college experience off on the right foot. Jessica is also involved in the Leadership Institute and plays intramural soccer.

Jessy is a super senior from Brighton, MI. She is majoring in Music Education and plans to become a teacher and possibly do mission work with youth. Jessy chose to return as a mentor because being an FYE mentor has enabled her to make connections with students that she might not otherwise have been able to make on campus. Also, she enjoys the preparation for working in a classroom setting as well as working with faculty members at CMU. Jessy is involved in Leadership Camp, Delta Omicron, and His House Christian Fellowship.

Nicole is a senior and returning mentor from St. Clair Shores. She is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with minors in Science, Language Arts, and Child Development. In the future, she would like to teach in the Metro Detroit Area. Nicole became a mentor because she wants to ensure students have a good experience during their first year at CMU. She is also involved in Alpha Sigma Tau.

Samantha is a Psychology and Spanish major from Milford, MI. She is a junior this year and new mentor. In the future, she would like to become a high school counselor. Through mentoring, Samantha would like to interact with first-year students in order to positively impact their behaviors, beliefs, and experiences. She is also involved in the Organization of Women Leaders.

Courtney is a returning mentor and junior from New Lothrop, MI. She has a major in Biomedical Science and a minor in Chemistry and plans to become a trauma surgeon. Courtney chose to be an FYE mentor as she wanted to experience something new and challenging as she is trying to overcome her fear of public speaking. She also wants to meet incoming first-year students and help them transition to the new environment of college life. Courtney is involved with the Health Professions Residential College and volunteers for many events on campus.

Alicia is a junior and returning mentor from Brighton, MI. Currently, she works as a SAC Lifeguard but hopes to be an emergency room physician assistant. Alicia is majoring in Neuroscience and Health Fitness with minors of Psychology, Art, and Pre-PA. Alicia joined the FYE mentoring team because she loves helping people, and to be able to help new students make this big transition in life is absolutely amazing. Seeing overwhelmed first-year students develop into experienced CMU students is so rewarding for her. Alicia is involved in Orchesis Dance Theatre, Leadership Safari, Audience of One Dance Ministry, intramural sports, His House Christian Fellowship, and Chip Crew.

Jessica is a junior and new mentor this year from Sand Creek, MI. She is pursuing a degree in Special Education with a concentration in Emotional Impairment and minoring in American Sign Language and Child Development. She would like to work for a preschool in special or deaf education. She is excited to work with new students and mentor them through their first semester and show them how awesome CMU is! Jessica is involved in Alpha Gamma Delta and Kappa Delta Pi.

Nick is a senior and returning mentor from Davison, MI. He is majoring in Psychology and International Relations with minors in Sociology and French. Nick is currently a Research Assistant and works in concessions. Nick continues to be a mentor because he has had such a great time at Central, and he wants to be able to share his experiences with new students. Nick is also Residence Hall Assembly President, a Campus Ambassador, an Alternative Breaks Site Leader, and is involved in NATIONAL Residence Hall Honorary and Sexual Aggression Peer Advocates.

Michelle is a sophomore pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with three minors of Integrated Science, Middle Level Education, and Planned Program with the hope of becoming an elementary teacher. Currently, she works in the Robinson Residential Restaurant. She is a new mentor this year from White Lake, MI. Michelle joined the FYE program because she wants to help and guide first-year students down the right path for a successful college experience. She is currently the Calkins Hall President and is involved in the Education & Human Services Residential College, National Residence Hall Honorary, and Residence Hall Assembly.

Andrew is a senior from Southgate, MI and a new mentor this year. His major is Spanish Education with a minor in Bilingual-Bicultural Education, and he plans to be either a teacher or professor. He is a Multicultural Advisor in Barnes Hall and is involved in the Barnes Hall Council as well as Spanish Club, and the Public Service Residential College. Andrew became a mentor this year because he wants to continue to make a difference at Central.

Hayley is a senior and returning mentor from Farmington Hills, MI. She is pursuing a major in Spanish and a minor in English. Currently, she works as a SPN 101 Teaching Assistant. In the future, Hayley would like to teach either Spanish or English in an elementary or high school. After being recruited to be an FYE mentor, her positive experience became the reason she decided to re-explore her desire to teach. Hayley is involved in the Sibs Weekend Committee, Phi Alpha Delta, CMU Spanish Club, LeaderShape 2007, LEAD ME, and is a weekly volunteer at the Isabella County Community Soup Kitchen.

Megan is a junior and new mentor. She is majoring in Marketing and is from Sandusky, MI. Currently, Megan works at the EHS-Center for Student Services in Ronan as a Student Assistant. In the future, she would like to open her own restaurant. Megan wants to make the incoming students' first year an easy transition. As a mentor, she would like to answer students questions and guide them through their first-year experiences. Megan is involved in intramural flag football in the fall and volunteers for various groups and causes.

Jo-Lee is a sophomore and new mentor from South Lyon, MI. She is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology and Child Development with a minor in Sociology. She hopes to some day be a child clinical psychologist. Jo-Lee would like to help first-year students not feel alone during their first year at Central and be available to students. Jo-Lee is also involved in His House Christian Fellowship.

Meghan is currently a sophomore and new mentor. She is from Essexville, MI and majoring in Business Teacher Education with a minor in English. Currently, she works as a Student Assistant in the Career Services Center but plans to be a high school business teacher and live in either North or South Carolina. She became a mentor this year because she wants to be able to help first-year students and get some teaching experience. Meghan is involved in the Education & Human Services Residential College and Phi Mu.

Genna is a sophomore and new mentor from New Hudson, MI. She is majoring in Public Relations with the hope of working in the event planning and public relations. She currently works as a bartender. Genna is looking forward to her first year as a mentor to build her personal leadership ability and offer her experience as a guide to first-year students. Genna is involved in Public Relations Student Society of America, intramural football, and Volunteer Central.

Elizabeth is a sophomore and new mentor from Watersmeet, MI. She is majoring in Communication Disorders and Child Development and plans to move back to the U.P. to work in the school system. She currently works as an RA in Sweeney Hall. She wanted to be a mentor because she would like to encourage and motivate freshman to explore all the opportunities CMU has to offer. She would also like them to discover the amazing community here as they acclimate themselves to their new surroundings. Elizabeth is involved in Honors, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and volunteering.
