Requirements of the EHSRC

Participating in the Education and Human Services (EHS) Residential College is a privilege. In order to take advantage of this, you must agree to the following terms and conditions. Failure to meet these requirements may result in your removal from the Residential College and Calkins Hall.

As a member of the EHSRC, you agree to:
  • Pursue a major or minor within the College of Education and Human Services and demonstrate progress toward your degree each semester.
  • Enroll in FYE 101 for EHSRC members. In addition, if you are pursuing “Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services Administration” majors, you must enroll in RPL 118, if you are pursuing “Teacher Education”, you must also enroll in EDU 107 and if you are pursuing “Special Education”, you must also enroll in SPE 126.
  • Have a Major, Minor or “Intent to Major / Minor” signed by the end of your second semester.
  • Maintain a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average each semester.
  • Meet with an advisor from your chosen field of study by the end of your second semester.
  • Participate in co-curricular activities sponsored by the EHSRC. Events and programs include Academic, Social, Service and Adventure activities. Your participation will be documented at the registration for each event.
  • Become actively involved with a Registered Student Organization (RSO) that is related to your field of study by the end of your second semester.
  • Register with CMU’s Volunteer Center and complete 10 service hours each semester.
  • Comply with the rules and regulations that govern life in Calkins Residence Hall. These regulations can be found online at the reslife website here.
  • Comply with the rules and regulations outlined in the Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities and Disciplinary Procedures as published by the CMU Office of Student Life. These regulations can be found online here.
